A Rare Heavy Cavalry 1821 Pattern Troopers Sword.

42 ½" overall, 36 ½" slightly curved blade with single wide fuller, marked 'Enfield 1848’ with a Crown VR. on the spine with inspector's mark. Steel bowl guard, guard marked 'SS'. Engraved ‘R.D’ and a rack number on the inside of the bowl guard.  Leather covered wooden grip. In its steel scabbard with two suspension rings.

Dated 1848.

A hard to fine sword in very good condition.

The Royal Dragoons took part in the charge of the heavy brigade at the Battle of Balaclava in October 1854 during the Crimean War.
